Stephen Herbits is a Senior Advisor of Fontheim International, LLC. Mr. Herbits brings over 30 years of senior level experience in government and the private sector to the Fontheim team. He served four Presidents of the United States, and spent 20 years as a senior executive at the Seagram Company, Ltd.
Mr. Herbits served as The Special Assistant to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld from 1976-1977, and advised the administrations of Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush on transition matters at the Department of Defense. Prior to joining the Department of Defense, Mr. Herbits was Special Assistant to the Director, Office of Presidential Personnel in the White House under Chief of Staff Donald Rumsfeld. Mr. Herbits also served as Counsel to the Special U.S. Trade Representative in 1975, and prior to that was a Legislative Assistant to Sen. Robert Stafford (R-VT).
As a senior executive at the Seagram Company, Ltd, Mr. Herbits held a number of posts. He retired from Seagram in 1997 after serving for eight years as Executive Vice President, External Affairs and Corporate Policy, and as an officer of the Corporation. Previously, Mr. Herbits was Vice President, Corporate Development, New York; Managing Director, Seagram Far East, Seoul; President, Seagram Wine Company, New York; President, Browne Vintners, New York; Vice President, Seagram Europe, London; Vice President, Seagram Overseas Sales Company and Managing Director, Kirin-Seagram, Ltd., Tokyo.
Mr. Herbits holds a B.A. from Tufts University and a J.D. from Georgetown University.
