Shehnaz Rangwala
Senior Advisor
Shehnaz Rangwala is a Senior Advisor of Fontheim International, LLC. Ms. Rangwala is currently the Program Director for Leadership Africa USA where she is responsible for the design, implementation and management of programs in the United States and Africa.
Prior to launching Leadership Africa USA, Ms. Rangwala was the Program Director at Education Africa USA, and before that worked at Bread for the World, a D.C.-based nonprofit, grassroots lobbying organization that works on domestic and international hunger and poverty issues. There she was Assistant to the Vice President of Policy and Programs and represented the organization on many issues related to trade.
Ms. Rangwala has extensive experience in the development of effective and innovative strategies to facilitate business development and global trade initiatives in Africa and Asia. On behalf of USDA’s International Institute, she conducted training workshops for a delegation from the West Africa AGOA Training Center (ATC) on challenges, opportunities and strategies for making textile products export ready, specifically for small and medium enterprises. She has also worked on trade issues in Turkey and Thailand.
Ms. Rangwala has experience teaching International Trade in Textiles, providing students with a broad understanding of the global textile and apparel industry by emphasizing current global trends, prevailing global practices, trends in production and consumption, and the United States as an importing /exporting country.
Ms. Rangwala was a Fulbright Finalist to Mauritius where she researched the impact of industrialization on lives of women and children in the textile and apparel industry. Her research gained national media attention in Mauritius regarding the role of female workers in the country’s textile industry advances: “Study Says Female Workers Drove Textile Miracle, But Feel Left Behind.”
Ms. Rangwala was born in Mumbai, India and has lived and worked in Mauritius and South Africa. She has extensive experience with issues related to international trade and textiles, especially related to women in international trade.
Ms. Rangwala holds a M. Sc. in Textiles & Apparel Management with an emphasis on industry outlook and sociocultural impact from the University of Missouri-Columbia, Missouri, and a M.A. in Media Communications from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri. She also has a Diploma in International Tourism Management from the Indian International Trade Center, Mumbai, India.
